Remember in 2020 when everyone was baking banana bread? I loved seeing people who don’t normally bake get into it, but for some reason everyoneeee was only making banana bread. Honestly, I love a good banana bread, but it can be pretty boring. I like to switch up my basic recipe, like this Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread, but decided to share a chocolate version! This Marbled Banana Bread is the perfect combo of chocolate and banana and so easy to make!

HOW TO GET THE BEST BANANA FLAVOR
What makes this banana bread special are a few things. Banana flavor, how moist the bread is, the cinnamon swirl, and of course the crumble on top. I’ve walked through some tips below on how to nail these key elements and ensure this bread comes out perfect every time!
- Bananas: Have you ever tried eating a green banana and thought ‘this doesn’t taste great’? That’s because as bananas turn yellow and then brown their flavor is intensifying. Therefore when you’re baking you essentially want to use super yellow, if not brown, bananas. When my bananas are at the point where no one wants to eat them I put them in the freezer. This will keep them from going bad and help intensify the flavor, which is why I loveeee to use them for baking. Just defrost them and you’re good to go! This also helps keep the cake moist. So each week when you inevitably don’t eat all of your bananas, save them for this bread 🙂
- The marble: This marble is made by adding melted chocolate and cocoa powder to the banana bread. I like to use semi-sweet or milk chocolate. You can easily substitute dark as well, but depending on what you use I use the same for the chocolate chips on top.

Banana bread is the perfect treat to eat for breakfast, a snack, or dessert. If you end up trying the recipe please leave a rating and comment below 🙂

Marbled Banana Bread
Ingredients
- 3 large ripe bananas
- ½ cup salted butter melted
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- 2 eggs room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate melted, room temperature
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease and line the 9×5 inch loaf pan and set aside. In a large bowl mix butter, oil, both granulated and brown sugars and bananas. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix until just combined. Add in flour, baking soda and salt and mix just until all of the dry ingredients are incorporated.
- In a small bowl combine melted chocolate and cocoa powder. Scoop about 1 cup of batter into a medium sized bowl. Mix in the chocolate until evenly combined.
- Alternate scooping the plain banana batter with the chocolate into the prepared pan and swirl with a knife. Top with chocolate chips and bake for 50-60 minutes or until baked through. If you notice the top browning too quickly create a tent with aluminum foil and gently place over the top. Allow to cool completely before removing from the pan.
