It’s March which means this month we are celebrating all things lucky! You all know I love a good baked treat and sometimes complicated cakes are fun, but I will always love a quick and easy no bake dessert. My original Rice Krispie Treat recipe is already a more upscale version of the classic. Because of the brown butter and vanilla at the base of this recipe, with addition of the Lucky Charms, both adults and kids will love these!

One of the best things about this recipe is how simple it is to make with just a few ingredients and minimal prep time. Whether you’re making them for a holiday party, school treat, or just a fun weekend snack, these bars come together in under 15 minutes. Plus, they’re easy to customize—try adding white chocolate drizzle, a sprinkle of extra marshmallows on top, or even a touch of vanilla extract for extra flavor. However you make them, they’re guaranteed to bring a little extra luck (and a lot of deliciousness) to your day!
RECIPE TIPS:
- One easy mistake to make with this recipe is to crush down the mixture when adding it to the pan. You want to gently stretch it into the pan and lightly pat it level with a spatula or your hands.
- Worried about the mixture sticking to your hands? I have a tip for you: before you touch the Rice Krispies, run a few drops of water over your hands and rub them together. The water will prevent the marshmallow mixture from sticking to your hands and allow you to easily manipulate the treats without having to crush them down!
- This recipe uses both Rice Krispies and Luck Charms. I’ve seen other recipes where they only use Lucky Charms and you can easily do that if you prefer, but I thought that would be too sweet with the marshmallows and white chocolate. I think the mixture of 50/50 on the cereals gives a great balance, but if you want to go all in on Lucky Charms go for it!
- This is made in a 9×13 pan. I like to use one with a lid (like this one) so it’s easy to pack up and take to a party or pot luck!

Browning the butter before mixing it with the marshmallows adds a rich, nutty depth that perfectly balances the sweetness of the cereal. As the butter melts, it takes on a golden hue and develops a toasty, caramel-like aroma, giving these treats a subtle gourmet twist. The deep, buttery flavor pairs beautifully with the sweet vanilla notes of Lucky Charms, making each bite even more irresistible. It’s a simple step that takes just a few extra minutes, but it transforms these bars into something truly special—so much so that you might never go back to the classic version again!
This recipe is easy, fun and you can make it year round or for St. Patrick’s Day 🙂 If you’re looking for other versions of Rice Krispies click here. If you end up trying the recipe, please rate and leave a comment below of what you think!

Lucky Charm Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients
For the Rice Krispie Treats:
- 1 cup salted butter
- 20 oz mini marshmallows
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- 5 cups Rice Krispies
- 5 cups Lucky Charms
For the garnish:
- 1 cup white chocolate you can use chips or a baking bar
- ½ cup Lucky Charms marshmallows
Instructions
For the Rice Krispies:
- Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper. Lightly mist with nonstick cooking spray and set aside. In a large pot melt your butter. Once melted, continually stir until the butter just begins to brown. The butter should foam up twice and then begin to give off almost a nutty aroma. Immediately remove from heat so the butter does not burn.
- Immediately stir in the two teaspoons of vanilla extract. The hot mixture will bubble up, so continue to stir an additional thirty seconds until the sizzling subsides. Add in salt.
- Add in one bag or half of your marshmallows and mix until almost completely melted before adding the remaining. Stir until all of the marshmallows are entirely combined and melted. At this point, add in the Rice Krispies and lightly stir until combined. Add in Lucky Charms and gently mix until incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into the 9×13 pan. Lightly wet your hands and gently push into the pan to the edges. You don't want to crush it, so be gentle with it!
For the garnish:
- Break up the white chocolate and add to a heat proof bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until completely melted. Once it's ready, set aside for 3 minutes to chill down to room temperature. Using a spoon, drizzle white chocolate onto the treats. Sprinkle on the extra Lucky Charms marshamllows and enjoy!
These turned out so cute! Quick and easy to make for my daughter’s club meeting.
How did you cute yours so cleanly? Any tips?
