School is back in session and the leaves are starting to turn, which means football season is back baby! I’m from Pittsburgh and we love our football. Growing up my mom would make a big meal every Sunday when the Steelers were playing. One of our favorites was big buffalo chicken salads with homemade potato fries and this amazing homemade Blue Cheese Dressing. I know blue cheese is either loved or hated by people, but I’m telling you give this recipe a try!

When my husband and I first started dating he came over to watch one of the games with my family. Unfortunately he’s a huge New England Patriots fan but hey, you gotta love people despite their flaws, right? 😉 He really didn’t think he would like this dressing but didn’t want to offend my mom, so he tried it. Unfortunately the Pats won that year, but I walked away with a win as well: he loved the dressing! Four years later and we still make this recipe and not just during the fall, but all year round!

If you want to lighten this dressing up you can use lite or fat free mayo and sour cream. If you prefer it to be thinner, add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches the desired consistency. This dressing will thin out the longer it sits in the fridge! This easily comes together in one bowl in under 5 minutes. You can eat this right away, but the flavor only enhances the longer it sits in the fridge. I like to make this at least one hour before I serve it to allow those flavors to meld.

This recipe is a game day favorite in my house and I’m so happy to share it with you today! We don’t just use this for salads, it’s the perfect dip for fries, wings or to top off a sandwich or burger! Store in the refrigerator in your favorite bowl or container (I love these mason jars for sauces and dressings) for up to 7 days! Enjoy 🙂

This blue cheese dressing is amazing! I’m so glad I tried it! Hubby says that we are never going back to the blue cheese bottled stuff again!
This recipe is hands down the best. I can’t wait to make it to enjoy with wings and fries this football season. 5 stars!!
