If you’ve been here before, you already know I love putting a fun twist on classic Rice Krispie Treats — and these Monster Mash Cocoa Krispie Treats might just be my new favorite. They’ve got everything you want in a Halloween treat: gooey marshmallows, rich brown butter, Cocoa Krispies for a chocolatey crunch, crushed Halloween Oreos, and of course, plenty of spooky candy eyes and festive sprinkles on top.
They come together in about 15 minutes and are perfect for Halloween parties, classroom treats, or a fun weekend activity with the kids. Cute, a little creepy, and ridiculously delicious — these are the kind of monsters you want to find in your kitchen 👻

Tips & Tricks
- Don’t overheat the marshmallows. Keep the heat on medium-low and remove them once they’re mostly melted. Overheating can make your treats hard instead of soft and gooey.
- The pan. I love this simple 9×13 metal baking pan! It’s affordable, durable and comes with a lid so storage is really easy!
- Use fresh cereal. It sounds simple, but stale cereal will ruin the texture. Make sure your Cocoa Krispies are crisp for that perfect bite.
- Add mix-ins at the right time. Stir in the crushed Oreos and mini chocolate chips after the marshmallows are mostly melted — this keeps the chocolate from completely melting into the mix.
- Avoid pressing too firmly. Gently spread the mixture into the pan and lightly pat it flat. Pressing too hard can make your treats dense instead of chewy.
- Make it spooky! Once cooled, drizzle with melted chocolate, add Halloween sprinkles, and press a few candy eyes on top to bring your monsters to life.
- For clean cuts. Use a sharp knife sprayed with nonstick spray or lightly buttered for smooth edges.

Storage
Store your Monster Mash Cocoa Krispie Treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you’re making them ahead, you can refrigerate them — just let them come to room temperature before serving so they stay soft and chewy.
No oven, no fuss, and totally festive — these Monster Mash Cocoa Krispie Treats are the perfect no-bake Halloween dessert. Whether you’re making them for a party or just to get into the spooky spirit, they’re guaranteed to disappear fast.

Monster Mash Cocoa Krispies
Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter
- 20 oz mini marshmallows
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 10 cups Cocoa Krispies
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips melted
- 20 Oreos roughly chopped
- ½ cup Halloween Sprinkles
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue stirring until it begins to foam and turn golden brown, giving off a nutty aroma. This should take 4–6 minutes. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
- Stir in the vanilla extract — it will bubble up, so keep stirring until the sizzling subsides. Add half of the marshmallows, stirring until mostly melted. Add the remaining marshmallows and continue stirring until they’re almost completely melted and smooth.
- Add the Cocoa Krispies 2 cups at a time, gently folding after each addition. Once all cereal is added and evenly coated, fold in the crushed Halloween Oreos (use about 3/4 of this and save the rest for topping). Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly wet your hands (to prevent sticking) and gently press the mixture evenly into the pan. Don’t pack it down too tightly or the treats will be dense — just lightly pat it level.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. Let cool for 2–3 minutes. Pour the melted chocolate over the top of the treats or dip edges if preferred. Immediately sprinkle with more crushed Oreos, candy eyes, and Halloween sprinkles.
- Let the treats sit for 30–45 minutes at room temperature to firm up before slicing. Use a sharp knife sprayed with nonstick spray for clean cuts. Enjoy!
